A person can attend all of the church services they like, from now until Jesus comes back, and it will not do a person a lick of good until they have a relationship with Christ. And when I say “Christ” I mean the actual people that make up His actual Body. They need a relationship with that Christ.
Knock down the walls, kill the denominations. Unite together in Him.
A person does not need a better sound system, better music arrangements, better programs, or better buildings… they need to live in community with one another, and that does not mean live inside the institutional walls. I am talking about living outside the walls by being the Church together – AND by building relationships with others. Do not just go build a house for someone and leave. Build the house and get in their lives. Help them, be with them. Do not just be in the community by just being a community project.
I know many people who will claim they “know” Christ, but if something happened and they were unable to attend their “must have” worship service (their entertainment and feel good session) to get through until the next week… I think many people would have that relationship with Jesus almost be non-existent… they would likely be lost.
So many equate their “relationship with Jesus” by the church they attend or how often they attend… that is crap. Not only that, I believe their perception of Jesus depends on what their “church” teaches or believes … NOT on what they themselves have sought out in Christ, and know to be truth.
This is why relationships between others break apart. The focus is on the structure of church (the institution, the entertainment, the programs, the knowledge), and not on each other … where the focus should be.
I personally have quit trying to be “Christian” as it is defined by denominational churches. I am not against the people that attend any “church”, I am against the system of church that brews judgementalism, hatred, and division within. I do not even want to define myself at all. I just love Christ and want to love others because I love Him.
Going to church is NOT the answer. BEING the Church IS!
